PBIS 

Here at PHI we have a strong PBIS system.  Officially, PBIS or Positive Behavior Intervention Support, is described as an empirically validated, function-based approach to eliminate challenging behaviors and replace them with pro-social skills. Use of PBIS decreases the need for more intrusive or aversive interventions (i.e., punishment or suspension) and can lead to both systemic as well as individualized change.  We try to deal with challenging behaviors on a case by case basis with the goal of teaching strategies on how to change the behavior and by reinforcing appropriate behavior with incentives and recognition.
